What is Serum Osmolality?
Serum osmolality reflects the concentration of dissolved solutes (mainly sodium, glucose, and urea) in blood and is tightly regulated by ADH and thirst; an elevated osmolal gap can also reveal unmeasured toxic solutes such as toxic alcohols.
