Omega-3 Index
Omega-3 Index is a clinical biomarker on the Cardiometabolic panel, reported in %. Standard reference range: 2.5–16 %. Functional (optimal) range used by integrative practitioners: 8–16 %.
What is Omega-3 Index?
The Omega-3 Index is the percentage of EPA + DHA in red blood cell membrane phospholipids; it reflects long-term (~120 day) omega-3 status and is a validated risk biomarker for sudden cardiac death and total mortality. Levels <4% are associated with the highest cardiac risk; levels ≥8% are associated with the lowest risk.

How SomaVue interprets Omega-3 Index
SomaVue maps every result for Omega-3 Index against four clinical lenses — nutrient cofactors, toxin exposure, infection drivers, and circadian/hormonal context — and connects each interpretation to specific peer-reviewed citations. Pre-mapped clinical reasoning and cross-marker pattern detection are available inside the practitioner workspace.
